What is a Name Server

In the simplest of terms, name servers organize and route traffic across the internet. Name servers work as a directory that can be searched to translate domain names into IP addresses.

When a mortgage professional types a domain name (human readable format) into the search bar of a browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.), the domain name gets transmitted to the name server. Which translates the domain name into the IP address (numbers format) and sends it back to the browser. The web browser now uses this IP address to connect to the server and loads the requested website .
